Does the World want to be saved? Even if it does, Bush won’t be the person to do it. Probably a better tactic would be to expend resources helping develop third world countries. Maybe improve on environmental issues by replacing coal with nuclear power and advancing other nations safely in that direction so to avoid another Chernobyl. Maybe, maybe the world wants us to focus on straightening out our own business for awhile. We have lots of stuff here to keep our hands full, the economy, immigration, tuberculosis, education it almost sounds like a Dylan lyric.

Maybe that is what the American people would prefer too.

There is no way that America can make the entire world peaceful — or, in fact, any part of the world except America itself.

We have failed in so many attempts: Afghanistan, the Sudan, Iraq, Iran, Lebanon, Somalia, Libya, Colombia, Nicaragua, El Salvador, the Dominican Republic, Panama, Grenada, Guatemala, Indonesia, East Timor, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Pakistan, the Congo, and dozens of other countries.

Do people want to keep having our government make a futile effort to bring peace and democracy to the world — in the process generating such hatred that we live the rest of our lives in a state of siege, with America becoming progressively more like the chaos that exists in Israel and the Palestinian territories?
