Do you think Iran is a threat to the United States?

Here are a few facts. Iran has not invaded anyone in the past 100 years. Iran has from the beginning insisted that its nuclear program is for peaceful energy purposes, and there has been no evidence – I repeat, no evidence – to the contrary. The Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty explicitly authorizes countries to enrich uranium. In other words, Iran has not done anything illegal.

Iran has no intercontinental missiles, and the only country in the Middle East with nuclear weapons is Israel. Iran has signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. Israel has refused to sign it. Iran admits international inspectors. Israel flatly refuses to allow international inspectors. The only country in today's Middle East with weapons of mass destruction and a history of invading and occupying other people's countries is Israel.

What do you think?

He said he wants to wipe Israel off the face of the map. He is dangerous and cannot be allowed to have nukes.

Wouldn't you want to wipe Isreal off the face of the map if you were Iran????

Come on...

Anonymous,

Who cares about Isreal? Really!

Just care about America. Bring our troops home. No more nation building. We have military bases around the globe and we have to borrow money from other countries (China and Japan!) the dollar is losing it's value by the day!!!!

Our National Guard is in Iraq!! Do you feel safer??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

The American Empire is about to collapse. Just like the Soviets did when they spread themselves too thin in Afghanastan.

Hey, did you know the Soviets lost a war to the afghans?????.

Do you see it coming?

Do you feel safe?

the voice of reason is scaring me.

Sorry to scare you Neisha. But think about it. It is exactly what Ron Paul was talking about in that video "So Smart." and So Scary.

We can't afford all of this. It does not seem like anyone else sees it.

We must stop our unconditional support of Isreal too. It is only harming our nation.

Linnette, keep striking up these thought provoking posts. You and that Tavia seem to really know how things should be. Smart gals.

I believe it's true, that's why it scares me.

No and neither was Iraq.

We create the threats. Iran will be a threat if we invade them.

The irony in the situation kills me. They are not a threat but we will send Americans in that will be killed there.

Iraq would have had to orchestrate an attack like September 11th to kill as many Americans as they have since we sent our troops in.

Wouldn't the money have been better spent securing our borders? Plus, we'd have 3,600 + American lives saved.

Yeah! And, to set the record straight, Ahmadinejad did not say he wanted to 'wipe Israel off the map.'

That is just more propaganda, leading up to war!

No such idiom exists in Persian. He did say he hoped its regime, i.e., a Jewish-Zionist state occupying Jerusalem, would collapse.

The Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) translates the phrase similarly:

[T]his regime that is occupying Qods [Jerusalem] must be eliminated from the pages of history.

Iran has repeatedly rejected the allegations that Ahmadinejad has stated 'Israel must be wiped off the map'. Iran’s foreign minister denied that Tehran wanted to see Israel “wiped off the map." "Nobody can remove a country from the map. This is a misunderstanding in Europe of what our president mentioned," Manouchehr Mottaki told a news conference, speaking in English, after addressing the European Parliament. "How is it possible to remove a country from the map? He is talking about the regime. We do not recognise legally this regime," he said.

A major U.S. intelligence review has projected that Iran is about a decade away from manufacturing the key ingredient for a nuclear weapon, roughly doubling the previous estimate of five years, according to government sources with firsthand knowledge of the new analysis. The new estimate … judg[es] that Iran will be unlikely to produce a sufficient quantity of highly enriched uranium, the key ingredient for an atomic weapon, before “early to mid-next decade,” according to four sources familiar with that finding.

Maybe part of Ahmadinejad ‘s message is the Israeli’s aren’t a bunch of choirboys. Take the calculated and brutal occupation of Gaza. Add their relentless media campaigns and propaganda efforts to mask the truth and they have effectively hidden years of human rights violations. Justifiably it makes them a target to a lot of people in the world.

The US’s unconditional support of Israel, as eluded earlier does more harm than good. And it’s going to get us in deeper if we commit our military. All this incessant warring effectively weakens our economy, compromises our domestic tranquility and diminishes our standing as a Super Power.

Propaganda dilutes the facts and prevents the public from being able to come to rationale conclusions. The war in Iraq was diluted with weapons of mass instruction. Iran is diluted with wiping out Israel and the 2000 election was diluted with hanging chads. The 2008 presidential election is already turning into a three ring (tone) circus but most of the public will be entertained.

I’m not.

We must oust the war mongers.

Scott Ritter says, "When you hear someone say that Iran is ten years away from having a nuclear weapon, that means that they are at zero right now, because ten years is about how long it takes in this day and age – that's what it takes to put in place the technology, develop the infrastructure, pump out the fissile material, etc."

So, you know who the REAL nuclear threat is is in the world? Americans worry about Iran getting one or two. But only one government has ever used them against civilians, and it happens to be the one that already has thousands of nuclear weapons. And, it declares that it has the right to use them against other nations that it thinks is a threat. It also happens to have a bad record at determining what qualifies as a threat. The United States.

Nice point Mom. That is so funny. Paraguay is ten years away from having a nuclear weapon - we must put a stop to it. You can just pick any country and say that, I love it.
