Quotes from George W. Bush during the Bush-Gore Presidential debate in 2000

GOV. GEORGE W. BUSH: If we're an arrogant nation, they'll resent us; if we're a humble nation, but strong, they'll welcome us. And our nation stands alone right now in the world in terms of power, and that's why we've got to be humble, and yet project strength in a way that promotes freedom.

GOV. GEORGE W. BUSH: I'm not so sure the role of the United States is to go around the world and say this is the way it's got to be. We can help. And maybe it's just our difference in government, the way we view government. I mean I want to empower people. I want to help people help themselves, not have government tell people what to do. I just don't think it's the role of the United States to walk into a country and say, we do it this way, so should you.

Imminent threat?

Yes, Linnette. Imminent threats like weapons of mass destruction, terrorists, crazy rulers who are on a mission to destroy Isreal or obtain nuclear weapons. We need to be proactive not reactive when it comes to people who want to kill us. These people are not logical...come on, they'd strap bombs to women or children if they could to kill YOU if they had a chance.

When Bush said those things you posted, it was a different world. We didn't have the Axis of Evil staring us right in the face.

Read the book Deliver Us From Evil by Sean Hannity.

BTW, I hope you were listening to his speech to the West Virginia National Gurar this morning.

He said he would not have sent US troops into Iraq UNLESS IT WAS ESSENTIAL TO THE SECURITY OF THE US.

Don't you know, the car bombings in Iraq that are killing our troops are El Kida members? That is what Bush just said in his speech and if they don't kill us there, they will follow us home and kill us here. I'd rather send people over there for them to kill then have them come over here and put us in the line of fire. John Mc Cain said the same thing! I want a president that won't let these extremists and killers onto our soil.

No weapons of mass destruction were found. Iraq had no military capabilities. Al Qaeda and Saddam Hussein were not working together. Saddam Hussein posed no threat whatsoever to the United States.
As far as the mantra: “It’s better to fight the terrorists over there than here.” All evidence shows that our presence in Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and other Muslim countries benefits al Qaeda in its recruiting efforts, especially in its search for suicide terrorists.
As long as our occupation continues, and American forces continue killing Muslims, the incentive to attack us will grow. It is more accurate to say, “the longer we fight them over there the longer we will be threatened over here.”

We will have won the "war on terror" when they no longer want to attack us.

There was no Al Queda in Iraq until the Americans invaded.
