Don't know about you all, but I really like Colin Powell. If Obama is elected, looks like we will see a lot of Colin Powell. Suddenly I'm seeing a little light at the end of this long dark tunnel.
Yes, Linnette, seems Obama has nailed it. They say he is going to declare victory soon.
Carol, I agree. Obama-Powell would be a dream ticket alright.
This comment from the web I thought was interesting:
"Obama speaks to Powell with some regularity. This may be closer to a reality than one may imagine. I think another thing to bear in mind is that the Bushies are certain to try to create a security crisis between now and November. Powell can be a hedge against such an eventuality - someone who knows how to manage the chain of command in intimate detail."
Yeah that would be a good call if the neocons pulled a bunch of terror alert, security crisis propaganda to help John McCain's campaign closer to November.
Yeah he fell for it for sure. I'm not sure this would be a Dream Ticket (to me) but I do think it would mess up any plan to have a fake security threat to scare the public into voting for McCain.
I didn't like that whole presentation Powell gave to the UN with those phone calls as "proof" that Iraq had WMD. I mean, those calls were nothing.
EVEN IF they had weapons of mass destruction that isn't any of our business. So I don't let Clinton or Powell off the hook for participating in the propaganda campaign that lead us to war (lied to, deceived, mislead - whatever).
But I do think an Obama Powell ticket would be fun to watch McCain struggle against.
John, I do know exactly what you are talking about though. I do like Powell especially if the story about him referring to the Neocons in the Bush Administration as "fucking crazies." Is that true?
Tavia, I hadn't heard that one ("fuckin crazies") --- I love that! Yeah, I saw on Frontline that he had serious, tangible differences with the Bush administration from the very beginning and so they did not keep him around for long. From what I understand, in spite of his own honest mistakes, he still had his integrity in tact. Maybe I am wrong.
Yes, Tavia and Linnette, perhaps "dream-ticket" is too strong a word. Obama has serious drawbacks - I keep hoping to be able to see him in a somewhat positive light. I love that his administration would review and undo Bush's unconstitutional executive orders, but will he really? If this video here (LINK BELOW) is true, Obama will mean much higher taxes and socialism, socialism, socialism. This is what I meant by "a long dark tunnel" --- 8 long years of Bush, then Ron Paul evidently out, and where does that leave us? --> trigger happy McCain or SOCIALIST, TAX happy Obama?

I like him. Do you think Obama has it wrapped up now?
I hear Hilary is done, or at least she should be. An Obama-Powell team would be unstoppable.

Well, Powell fell for it before. But, maybe he can't be fooled twice.

I notice that Colin Powell's UN speech is on YouTube with this comment:
"The Speech that led to WAR in Iraq, What Powell himself regards as a 'blot' on his Political career."
