Will Bush Attack Iran Before He Leaves Office? What do YOU think?
Reports have recently surfaced that the Bush administration plans to launch an air strike against Iran within the next two months.
A retired US career diplomat and former assistant secretary of state still active in the foreign affairs community, speaking anonymously, said last week that the US plans an air strike against the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC). The air strike would target the headquarters of the IRGC's elite Quds force. Last September, the US Senate voted to declare the IRGC a terrorist organization.
US officials have repeatedly claimed Iran is aiding Iraqi insurgents. The Bush administration has also accused Iran of pursuing a nuclear weapons program, though most intelligence analysts say the program has been abandoned.
So, do you think that Bush will attack Iran before he leaves office? And, next question: SHOULD HE?

YES
NO
Linnette, I have no idea.
Congress is calling McClellan to testify about the revelations in his new book --- seems pressures could really start mounting for Bush. Maybe attacking Iran will be his out, his way to take the heat off himself.
A Huffington Post says:
"The stage is set for an attack, more likely an air strike, on Iran. President Bush suffers from the lowest approval rate and some of his closest allies have left the White House...President Bush can save the day for Republicans by ordering a military attack against Iran."
Same as anonymous: Yes, I think he will, and no, I definately don't think he should.
Yes he will attack.
No, he should not. It will be a disaster for us.
I'll come back later and give my prediction on how it will all play out.
I think that the Bush Administration will attack Iran. Otherwise, why spew forth so much anti-Iran rhetoric? Cheney has been pushing this idea since last summer. And, Congress seems more willing to go along with it now than they did a year ago. If the United States attacks the Revolutionary Guard bases, and Iran reacts militarily, then the United States has a reason to attack Iran’s nuclear program. The military industrial complex will benefit a lot from another war.
So, yes, I think Bush will attack Iran.
Next question: SHOULD Bush attack Iran?
Iran has not threatened war. Bush has. It is Bush, not Iran, who sounds like Adolf Hitler blustering and threatening.
It is the US that is funding assassination teams inside Iran and using taxpayer dollars to fund dissident and violent organizations opposed to the Iranian government. Iran is doing no such thing here.
It is members of the Bush Regime and US generals who continue to lie through their teeth about Iranian support for insurgents, for which they can supply no evidence, and about Iranian nuclear weapons programs, for which the IAEA inspectors can find no sign.
Compared to attacking Iran, attacking Iraq was a small risk. We cannot afford another war! And, you think gas is high now?
John: Do you think that 'saving the day for Republicans' means that if we were engaged in war with Iran, then McCain would more than likely get elected due to Obama's supposed inexperience in these matters? Very interesting theory.
Okay, Tavia, let's hear how it will all play out.
Iran says they are set to repel any attack and Ahmadinejad says Washington must beware of Iran's crushing response if attacked.
