Leaving the hospital after 24 days

Mom left the hospital today. This picture is outside the hospital, posing with her favorite nurse, Arpita. Mom says Arpita did more for her than all the other nurses combined, including the doctor (surgeon). She "brought so much joy" and kept Mom "looking upward and forward." Mom was crying as she said goodbye to her.

Arpita was a favorite of Tavia's and Neisha's, too. And I met her today and saw why they were crazy about her. Besides being very funny, she is so personable, genuine, and caring. She was running her hands through Mom's hair as she was sitting in the room. So, so sweet. She gave Neisha her phone number.

And she was soooo funny! One funny thing was...she was saying how different it is coming in to Momma's room compared to other patient's rooms. Momma was smiling and the others are frowning. I said "well, it's oncology, so some of them may be dying, right?" And she said: "So, they can still smile!"

I can see Arpita's love for mom in her eyes and the way she is holding mom. What a sweet heart she must be!

You know when mom was a nurse in her 20's at Santa Anita Sanitarium, she would clean up those patients so good, give them every comfort, then before leaving them, she would throw her arms around them and give them a kiss and a hug. I remember the stories. Imagine the joy this one hard working nurse who really cared brought to those patients! I've always thought how the kind things mom did for those hundreds of patients, the extra mile she went for them, how it would one day come back to her when she was in that condition. Looking at this adorable picture, I rest my case.

Mother was eventually made supervisor over the entire buildig, little wonder.

Mom has just been through hell, but look at how radiant she is! She's come out on top again!

Momma says: I appreciate all those kind words. And yes, I did enjoy taking care of them. I love you, Lynn.

And what about me, don't you love me? Don't forget, I'm the one who brushed your hair for hours in the hospital! (Well, maybe one hour, when you put all the segments of time together.)

I love you Mom!

And what about me? I can't believe how good mom looks leaving the hospital (are you sure she was sick? Just kidding). Mom you are so beautiful! We all love you so much!! You probably have no idea. Our hearts have been tugged this way and that way, up and down, encouraged, discouraged, on a high, then let down, brought up, let down, again and again, on a roller coaster ride with you. And look at you! You look wonderful. The thought of loosing you mom, has really shaken us up. We were all so worried. You are VERY loved!!!! I never got to meet Arpita I guess. We need to thank her.
This picture makes me want to cry.

What Carol just said is so true! So weird the way you never really knew from one minute to the next. Now Mom, promise you'll never do that to us again. You hear? Eh? Eh? ;-)
