And as far as feeling safer in a crowd of strangers or in a group of law enforcement officers, that's a no-brainer for me. I feel much safer being in the company of strangers!
But aside from which group is more dangerous, suppose you had to walk down a street that's known for being a high-crime area. What would make you feel more apprehensive about it, the fact that you might be attacked, or the fact that you might be stopped by cops who are out looking for someone to harrass and find something they're doing illegal? Personally, I'd be more worried about getting harrassed by cops. Happens all the time, not to me, but I've heard stories. Scary.
