The kidnapping of 416 children in El Dorado, TX

That's what happened, you know? The government came in to private homes and kidnapped 416 children and will not let them go back home! One mother says: "They are learning terrible things from the questions being asked, things that they have never been exposed to." A news source says they may never see their biological parents again! No one has been charged with any crime.

Does anyone have an opinion on this story?

Mom,

To answer your question.... I don't know enough about this story. Every time it comes on the news, I turn it because they make such a big deal over it when the whole story isn't even out yet. I'm just not following it.

What do you think?

EL DORADO, Texas, April 16 (UPI) -- Almost two weeks after Texas authorities raided a polygamist ranch, they have not identified the 16-year-old whose phone calls triggered the raid.

The teenager, who gave the name Sarah, called the help line at NewBridge Family Shelter at the end of March. She said that she had been forced into a "spiritual marriage" as a 50-year-old man's seventh wife and had been raped and physically abused.

Some members of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints say that Sarah does not exist, the Salt Lake Tribune reports. They believe the calls were a fake to justify the raid and the removal of hundreds of children from the church's YFZ Ranch in El Dorado.

I wouldn't doubt it.

Did you watch Larry King last night? It was really interseting.

Horrible how they took their kids away. The way they did it.

That's what makes me so mad. Just think if that happened to Violet and Ledge!

They told them they were taking them to reunite their families! Then they told the mothers to go into another room for questions and the kids were scared and crying. They forced them into the other room and that was the last they saw of them! They lied to them! Did you see Larry King? Terrible.

That one lady has a 5 year old boy that is handicapped and they took him away from her when he was scared and crying. Men with guns all around them!

Where in heaven is Dr. Phil. This is his specialty and will certainly help his TV ratings if Larry King has not already bought the rights to the story.

Henry, No kidding. Didn't Dr. Phil just bail someone out of jail? I only got bits and pieces of the story.

I don't know enough about the facts of this story, to judge it. BUT maybe the authorities don't either, since they cannot find the person who reported it. In fact, it was probably a made up deal. Time will tell. But remember WACO.

FACT:
Before September 2005, in the state of Texas, a child of age 14 could get married with parental permission. In September 2005, however, the age was raised to 16.

Another source I just read, said the age of conccent in Texas is 17, not 16.

The military assault had armor (tanks) provided by the Department of Homeland Security.

As an ABC News analysis points out, the DFPS legal strategy is to treat the people living in the YFZ enclave as a single household. In this fashion, under what the Texas government is pleased to call the "law," finding a single case of abuse within the community would be enough to justify keeping all of the children in permanent state custody.
