In the absence of any objective medical tests to determine who has ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder), doctors rely in part on standardized assessments and the impressions of teachers and guardians while they leave little room for other causes or aggravating factors, such as diet or environment. Psychiatrists may then prescribe psychotropic drugs for the children without first making it clear to parents that these medications can have severe side-effects including insomnia, loss of appetite, headaches, psychotic symptoms and even potentially fatal adverse reactions, such as cardiac arrhythmia. And yet, despite these dangers, many school systems actually work with government agencies to force parents to drug their children, threatening those who refuse with the prospect of having their children removed from the home unless they cooperate.

That's outrageous! The irony of it is that the drugs they give ADD kids is the same thing as methamphetamine, (Ritalin), and yet that's illegal for people who don't have ADD and just want the stimulation. Go figure.
Here's another one: If you're a thirteen year-old girl (any age) and want an abortion, a doctor can give you one without notifying your parents. What do you think about that?
Yet a doctor can't give minors aspiren without their parents permission.

No, it does NOT make sense! Here is an example of a stupid person's rationale for this (from the Internet).
"There has always been a huge generation gap between parents and their children...No longer parents know what is best for their children as their views may be outdated...The family planning associations seem to be in favour [of abortions without parental consent] as they find parents to be misinformed and have other points of view on contraception use and abortion."
Can you imagine?! Isn't it interesting that the average mindset has changed (or, deterioriated) that much with each generation? Just think if one of us had gone to get an abortion when we were thirteen or fourteen years old, and didn't tell Mom and Dad, and the doctor performing the abortion wasn't required to notify them? They would have _hit their pants!
One more thing about that: John Burkett was running that petition Parental Notification (not even CONSENT, but notification), and the petitioners complained about how hard it was to get signatures, because most of the parents would say, "Well, I don't think they should have to notify the parents." things like that.
